G&M Ireland Wedding Invitation

It was a special treat to design an invitation for Gord & Michelle who plan to have a dreamy fairytale wedding at a castle in Ireland. The castle grounds were the main inspiration for the design. Lush greenery, an onsite farm with exotic animals, a castle, and a lot of imagination. There was a little love from home added in (a Blue Jay and their own adorable cat, that had special significance to the couple). I watercolour painted this invitation for a special touch, and enhanced and brought it all together digitally for a truly custom wedding invitation. I can’t wait to see the wedding photos, as I am sure the wedding will be just as dreamy as the grounds the wedding will take place on. Congrats Gord & Michelle!

Silver to Stone

I really enjoyed working with Sharon on this logo and business card project for her jewelry company, Silver to Stone. She puts careful consideration and time into every piece of jewelry she creates. Each piece is a custom work of art, styled with care. It was important that I capture the elegance of her designs through a logo and business card that was modern, and shiny of course!

Stephanie & Stefn Maternity

It was a crisp fall morning, in fact so crisp, that the photos we shot were in between warming up fingers and noses. Since the season almost switched from summer to winter, we scavenged to find a few remaining fall trees. I had so much fun shooting Stefn & Stephanie’s family. Their first child Kaiden, has such a fun personality and made taking photos pretty easy. I am sure their next child will be just as cute and funny. Congratulations on baby number two, I can’t wait to meet him/her!

Around the World

Princess World Cruise 2017 1.03.17
Recently I have been thinking a lot about inspiration for design. Where do we often get our inspiration from? The internet? Yes, exactly. Right there is the problem.

Wouldn’t it be great if our pockets weren’t limited to where we could go, and what we could see. For example if you have a client who comes to you requesting a logo and business card for Indian scarves, wouldn’t it be great to pull out a memory of what it was like when you were in India. The texture of the scarf on your hand, the smell of the food in the air. Now you understand the process of making the scarf because you have seen it first hand, right in front you. You’ve seen the colours, and you know they are accurate to India, without googling “most popular Indian colours”. You’ve been there, and you can add that to your library.

I can only imagine the inspiration you would have building this business card and logo from your own direct experiences.

So that is why I say… let’s travel. Let’s see the world. Why? Because it will make us better designers.

Does anyone want to fund my $20,000 to go on a world cruise? 😉

Fashion Designs

Today I was looking through some of my old work and I came across this gem. I completely forgot about how I used to spend endless hours fashion designing and how much I loved it. Maybe it is time to break out the old serrated printer paper and pencil crayons. For your enjoyment…
